Description

Validate positive prepared count, issued within prepared, returned within issued, and discarded within the resulting held pool.

Pharmacy inventory distinguishes physical stock, reservations, holds, lots, package units, and expiry records. A stock calculation describes supplied records and cannot establish that a medicine is suitable or authorized for use.

Validate positive prepared count, issued within prepared, returned within issued, and discarded within the resulting held pool.

When to use this tool

Use Hospital Pharmacy Prepared Issued Gap when you need one explicit pharmacy stock-accounting component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter prepared, issued, returned, discarded. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read held, netIssued, unissuedShare. Use the output convention below.

Validate positive prepared count, issued within prepared, returned within issued, and discarded within the resulting held pool. Return held, netIssued, and held/prepared as unissuedShare.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Returned units increase the held ledger without establishing that they may be reused; product identity, sterility, and safe dispensing remain separate.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile verified inventory and product records within the pharmacy's controlled workflow before purchasing, releasing, or dispensing stock.
