Description

Return counted minus exclusions and that result minus expected, using an exact integer difference before numeric export.

Pharmacy inventory distinguishes physical stock, reservations, holds, lots, package units, and expiry records. A stock calculation describes supplied records and cannot establish that a medicine is suitable or authorized for use.

Return counted minus exclusions and that result minus expected, using an exact integer difference before numeric export.

When to use this tool

Use Cabinet Count Variance when you need one explicit pharmacy stock-accounting component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter expectedUnits, countedUnits, excludedUnits. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read adjustedCount, variance. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative integer expectedUnits, countedUnits, and excludedUnits within counted. Return counted minus exclusions and that result minus expected, using an exact integer difference before numeric export.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Counts must share product, location, and time basis; exclusions are supplied and discrepancy does not identify missing stock or establish safe dispensing.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile verified inventory and product records within the pharmacy's controlled workflow before purchasing, releasing, or dispensing stock.
