Grow Light Footprint Coverage Calculator

Inventory actual caller independently mapped lamp footprints and overlap on canopy cells; not lamp-count area division, PPFD uniformity, optical layout optimization or automatic mapping.

Description

A coverage grid can inventory which canopy cells receive one or several lamp footprints.

A coverage grid can inventory which canopy cells receive one or several lamp footprints. Area coverage alone does not describe photon uniformity.1

Enter a nonempty rectangular binary lamp×cell matrix and aligned positive cell areas. Return covered, uncovered, multiple-lamp-covered areas and counts.

When to use Grow Light Footprint Coverage Calculator

Use Grow Light Footprint Coverage Calculator when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No lamp optical mapping, PPFD, layout optimization or overlap intensity is inferred.

Prepare the measured crop, container, lighting or inventory records requested. Supply verified local catalogs, calibration factors and crop-stage limits; keep units and dates consistent.

How to use Grow Light Footprint Coverage Calculator and understand its results

  1. Prepare the measured crop, container, lighting or inventory records requested. Supply verified local catalogs, calibration factors and crop-stage limits; keep units and dates consistent.
  2. Enter callerObservedLampCoverageFlags, canopyCellAreasM2 using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read coveredCanopyAreaM2, uncoveredCanopyAreaM2, multipleLampCoveredAreaM2, coverageCountsByCell. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Enter a nonempty rectangular binary lamp×cell matrix and aligned positive cell areas. Return covered, uncovered, multiple-lamp-covered areas and counts.

cellCount=sum(lamp flags per cell); area counted once for each category

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No lamp optical mapping, PPFD, layout optimization or overlap intensity is inferred.

Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Matrices are limited to 128 rows and 128 entries per row. Numeric lists are limited to 10,000 entries; string lists to 128 strings of at most 128 characters each. The rules above may impose smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Lux to PPFD Converter: Lux describes human-vision illuminance, while PPFD describes photon flux per area. Matched spectral calibration is needed to relate them. For a complementary task, use Glazing Light Transmission Percent Calculator: Glazing transmission is best pooled by represented incident photon exposure. Equal weighting of ratios gives a different measure.
