Easter Lily Forcing Backward Count

Back-plan an Easter-lily forcing sequence from a supplied market date and stage durations/buffers, rounding each stage up to UTC days; no Easter computation or mutable cultivar forcing schedule.

Description

Backward forcing schedules place growing stages relative to a supplied market date.

Backward forcing schedules place growing stages relative to a supplied market date. Rounding each stage separately preserves whole-day allowances and buffers.1

Back-plan an Easter-lily forcing sequence from a supplied market date and stage durations/buffers, rounding each stage up to UTC days; no Easter computation or mutable cultivar forcing schedule.

When to use Easter Lily Forcing Backward Count

Use this tool to back-plan an Easter-lily forcing sequence from a supplied market date and stage durations/buffers, rounding each stage up to UTC days; no Easter computation or mutable cultivar forcing schedule.

Prepare the plant, nutrient, light or scheduling measurements for the intended crop and period. Keep paired records aligned and confirm units and supplied target values.

How to use Easter Lily Forcing Backward Count and understand its results

  1. Prepare the plant, nutrient, light or scheduling measurements for the intended crop and period. Keep paired records aligned and confirm units and supplied target values.
  2. Enter targetMarketDate, stageDurationsDays, stageBufferDays using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read stageStartDatesIso, totalScheduledDays. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
targetMarketDateTarget market datestringRequired
stageDurationsDaysStage durations dayslist of numberRequired
stageBufferDaysStage buffer dayslist of numberRequired

Use a valid UTC YYYY-MM-DD target date and 1–128 aligned nonnegative duration/buffer entries in process order. Work backward, round each combined stage upward and return comma-separated ISO start dates in original order plus total scheduled days.

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

stage start=following date−ceil(stage duration+stage buffer)

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

The tool does not calculate Easter or embed cultivar-specific durations. Dates must remain in the four-digit calendar-year range.

Numeric inputs and returned numeric values must be finite; an unrepresentable returned value produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Extremely large text inputs are rejected. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Poinsettia Short Day Trigger Date: Locate the first caller-defined consecutive uninterrupted-dark run in measured/scheduled poinsettia nights; each date is night start and completion is following morning, not cultivar-specific flowering prediction. For a complementary task, use Frost-Free Period Length: Find longest observed contiguous frost-free daily period with explicit endpoint censoring; unlike one seasonal frost date, longest available span is not extrapolated outside coverage.
