Power Reserve Torque Decay Curve Reader
Linearly interpolate torque on a caller-supplied measured curve and report its decline, ratio, and monotonicity.
Description
A torque-decay curve reader interpolates supplied measurements and summarizes end-to-end decline.
A torque-decay curve reader interpolates supplied measurements and summarizes end-to-end decline. The measured curve can rise or remain flat.1
Linearly interpolate torque on a caller-supplied measured curve and report its decline, ratio, and monotonicity.
When to use Power Reserve Torque Decay Curve Reader
Use this tool to linearly interpolate torque on a caller-supplied measured curve and report its decline, ratio, and monotonicity.
Choose a supported lookup focus or prepare the measured values, documented evidence and caller-selected limits requested. Use the exact field names and confirm their units or date format.
How to use Power Reserve Torque Decay Curve Reader and understand its results
- Choose a supported lookup focus or prepare the measured values, documented evidence and caller-selected limits requested. Use the exact field names and confirm their units or date format.
- Enter elapsedHours, readoutHour, torqueValues using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read averageDeclinePerHour, interpolatedTorque, monotonicDecreasing, remainingTorqueRatio. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| elapsedHours | At least two strictly increasing elapsed-hour values. (h) | list of number | Required |
| readoutHour | Readout hour (h) | number; minimum: 0 | Required |
| torqueValues | Finite nonnegative torque value for each elapsed hour. | list of number | Required |
Enter at least two aligned finite nonnegative hours/torques, strictly increasing hours, positive first torque and a readout hour within the measured interval. Interpolate linearly or use exact endpoints. Return torque, average decline, last/first torque ratio and nonincreasing flag that includes equal successive torques.
interpolation=T1+(h−h1)/(h2−h1)×(T2−T1); decline=(firstTorque−lastTorque)/(lastHour−firstHour) Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| averageDeclinePerHour | Average decline per hour | number |
| interpolatedTorque | Interpolated torque | number; minimum: 0 |
| monotonicDecreasing | Curve monotonically decreases | boolean |
| remainingTorqueRatio | Remaining-to-start torque ratio | number; minimum: 0 |

No extrapolation, physical decay fit, power reserve or timekeeping behavior is modeled. A rising endpoint gives negative decline and ratio above one.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Remontoire Constant Force Type Lookup: Return the purpose, spring, gravity, electric, escapement-location, train-location, or watch-use classification of a constant-force remontoire. For a complementary task, use Positional Rate Variation Threshold Screen: Calculate the maximum-minus-minimum rate spread across measured positions and compare it only with an explicit caller-supplied range limit.
