Regnal Year Source Label Tool

Label an explicitly sourced regnal year without converting it to a modern calendar date.

Description

Require nonempty rulerLabel and source plus positive regnalYear, then format a source-qualified regnal-year label.

Archival records often contain bounded dates, editions, and source identifiers. Arithmetic on supplied coordinates can check consistency while leaving historical interpretation and authenticity unresolved.

Require nonempty rulerLabel and source plus positive regnalYear, then format a source-qualified regnal-year label.

When to use this tool

Use Regnal Year Source Label when you need a precise date-span or source-record bookkeeping step.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter rulerLabel, regnalYear, source. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read label. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • This does not convert to a civil year, verify accession, resolve co-regencies, or authenticate historical chronology.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult the original catalog and documented calendar or dating convention when historical interpretation matters.
