Histology Annotation Pixel Scale Correction Tool

Convert a supplied histology annotation pixel length using explicit positive physical units per pixel without image calibration inference.

Description

Convert an annotation pixel length using a supplied physical scale.

Histology records connect specimen/cassette/slide identity, section position, image calibration, stain references and evaluable area. Linear and area scales differ, and section pitch is not automatically thickness. Supplied measurements and labels do not inspect tissue, validate preparation or establish a diagnosis.

Convert an annotation pixel length using a supplied physical scale.

When to use this tool

Use Histology Annotation Pixel Scale Correction when you already have annotationPixels, suppliedPhysicalUnitsPerPixel and need to convert an annotation pixel length using a supplied physical scale.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter annotationPixels, suppliedPhysicalUnitsPerPixel. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read physicalLength. Use the output convention below.

Require annotationPixels>=0 and physicalUnitsPerPixel>0; multiply for physicalLength.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
annotationPixelsAnnotation PixelsRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
suppliedPhysicalUnitsPerPixelSupplied Physical Units Per PixelRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
physicalLengthPhysical LengthRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The scale is a linear unit per pixel, not an area factor; no image calibration, annotation validity or anatomical measurement is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile original specimen and processing records with calibrated images and the complete analytical method. Keep evaluable-area, control and section-depth definitions explicit; local ratios, identifier splits and nominal scales do not validate anatomical or diagnostic conclusions.
