Description

Expand by total/subsample and report effective volume and eggs per nonempty subsample volume.

Animal research counts and identifiers depend on observation, category, and sampling conventions. Unknown intervals, repeated IDs, and corrected signals should retain their distinct meanings rather than being silently treated as complete observations.

Expand by total/subsample and report effective volume and eggs per nonempty subsample volume.

When to use this tool

Use Amphibian Egg Clutch Subsample Count when you need a bounded count, timing, identifier, or supplied-reference component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter countedEggs, subsampleVolume, totalVolume, emptyFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expandedCount, effectiveVolume, density. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative countedEggs, positive subsampleVolume, totalVolume at least the subsample, and emptyFraction in [0, 1). Expand by total/subsample and report effective volume and eggs per nonempty subsample volume.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Volumes share units; expandedCount and density use distinct bases and assume representative sampling, without estimating fertility, viability, or safe handling.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original records and the full observation method before inferring abundance, species identity, or biological significance.
