Most Common Ordinary Across Roll Finder
Count independently annotated ordinary occurrences and retain every exact mode, not a lexical blazon parser.
Description
The most frequent ordinary in an annotated corpus is determined by token counts.
The most frequent ordinary in an annotated corpus is determined by token counts.1
Equal maxima require retaining all tied names rather than selecting an arbitrary winner.
When to use Most Common Ordinary Across Roll Finder
Use this tool to calculate or review the supplied observations under the stated rules. Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
How to use Most Common Ordinary Across Roll Finder and understand its results
- Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
- Enter annotatedOrdinaryNames, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read result.mostCommonOrdinaries, result.maximumOccurrences, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| annotatedOrdinaryNames | Annotated ordinary names | list of string | Required |
Use a nonempty list of nonblank exact ordinary-name tokens. Build counts in first-occurrence order, find the largest count, and return all token names tied at that count in that order.
maxCount=max(histogramCounts); commonNames=[name_i where count_i=maxCount] Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Calculated observation or reference | object |
| result.mostCommonOrdinaries | most Common Ordinaries | list |
| result.maximumOccurrences | maximum Occurrences | number |

The names are annotated rather than parsed or recognized. Case and whitespace differences remain distinct; corpus completeness and heraldic terminology are not checked.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries; ordinary string lists allow at most 128 strings of 128 UTF-16 units each; numeric matrices allow at most 128 rows and 128 columns, subject to narrower requirements above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related step, use Lion Charge Frequency Counter Across Roll: Lion frequency in a roll can mean total lion occurrences or the number of arms containing lions. For a complementary comparison, use Eagle Charge Frequency Counter Across Roll: Eagle frequency in a roll can mean total eagle occurrences or arms containing at least one eagle.
