Research Smear Field Area Tool

Circular supplied research field geometry without cell classification or diagnostic counting guidance.

Description

Convert nonnegative fieldDiameter using positive suppliedLengthUnitFactor, compute circular area from half that diameter, and multiply by fields-excludedFields.

Microscope and blood-component geometry relates pixel scale, field area, mass, volume, and sampling extent. A geometric conversion does not verify cell identity, specimen quality, or clinical suitability.

Convert nonnegative fieldDiameter using positive suppliedLengthUnitFactor, compute circular area from half that diameter, and multiply by fields-excludedFields.

When to use this tool

Use Research Smear Field Area when you need one explicit research measurement or geometric component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter fieldDiameter, suppliedLengthUnitFactor, fields, excludedFields. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read singleArea, totalArea. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor maps input length to the intended physical length unit; excluded fields lie within total fields and no microscope calibration, representative sampling, or diagnosis is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify calibration, specimen handling, sampling, and professional laboratory interpretation separately.
