Description
Apply an eligible amount to a remaining deductible and separate any excess.
Health-policy records use explicit benefit codes, payment units, directory dates and administrative periods. A supplied cap, deductible or covered-code list defines a bookkeeping scenario; determining actual eligibility or obligations requires the governing policy. Date boundaries, currency bases and distance units must remain explicit.
Apply an eligible amount to a remaining deductible and separate any excess.
When to use this tool
Use Insurance Remaining Deductible Step when checking the stated caller-defined policy, benefit, directory or period convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter openingRemainingDeductible, eligibleAppliedAmount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read closingRemainingDeductible, appliedToDeductible, excessEligibleAmount. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative opening deductible remainder and eligible applied amount. Apply their minimum, subtract it from the opening remainder and report eligible amount beyond that minimum separately.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| openingRemainingDeductible | Opening Remaining Deductible | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| eligibleAppliedAmount | Eligible Applied Amount | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| closingRemainingDeductible | Closing Remaining Deductible | Required. Finite number. |
| appliedToDeductible | Applied To Deductible | Required. Finite number. |
| excessEligibleAmount | Eligible amount beyond the remaining deductible; not automatically an insurer or patient payment. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Eligibility and the deductible are caller assumptions; excess is not automatically insurer-paid or patient-payable.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
