Description
Return (raw-deadAnchor)/(fullHealthAnchor-deadAnchor) and belowDeath for a negative normalized value.
Health-economic utility models combine time with a supplied valuation scale. The reference anchors, duration units, survival basis, and discount timing determine the interpretation of each utility-year contribution.
Return (raw-deadAnchor)/(fullHealthAnchor-deadAnchor) and belowDeath for a negative normalized value.
When to use this tool
Use Health Utility Death Anchor Rescale when you need one explicit utility or modeled outcome component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter raw, deadAnchor, fullHealthAnchor. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read utility, belowDeath. Inspect belowDeath before interpreting the associated values.
Require distinct fullHealthAnchor and deadAnchor. Return (raw-deadAnchor)/(fullHealthAnchor-deadAnchor) and belowDeath for a negative normalized value.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| raw | Raw | Required. Finite number. |
| deadAnchor | Dead Anchor | Required. Finite number. |
| fullHealthAnchor | Full Health Anchor | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| utility | Dimensionless supplied health-economic utility under one common valuation basis; may be negative. | Required. Finite number. |
| belowDeath | Whether the mapped value is below the supplied death anchor; not an assessment of a person. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Anchors may be reversed and utility is not clamped; belowDeath refers only to the supplied scale, without assessing a person's life, health status, or treatment need.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the complete evaluation model and source valuations; arithmetic utility values are not individual clinical assessments or judgments of personal worth.
