Research Specimen Net Mass Base Tool

Compute specimen ledger mass under an explicit attached-material inclusion policy.

Description

Always subtract tare and subtract attached material only when excludeAttached.

Gynecologic research and care records can contain specimen labels, questionnaire states, source keys, and consent flags. A local metadata check preserves a supplied convention without determining a clinical finding or verifying permission.

Always subtract tare and subtract attached material only when excludeAttached.

When to use this tool

Use Research Specimen Net Mass Base when you need one explicit research-record or permission-metadata component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grossMass, tareMass, attachedMaterial, excludeAttached. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read netMass, excludedMass. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative grossMass, tareMass, and attachedMaterial with tare+attached within gross. Always subtract tare and subtract attached material only when excludeAttached.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Masses share units and the stricter attached-material bound applies in either branch; specimen contents, pathology, sampling, and clinical interpretation are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review verified records, privacy and consent requirements, and appropriate professional interpretation before clinical or contact decisions.
