Description
Record a design token's explicit reference label.
Graphic-design metadata distinguishes font metrics, variable-font axes, fill rules, color labels and design-token units. Numeric axis differences and text labels do not render a font or apply a color profile. The source convention must match before comparing metrics or resolving a design-system reference.
Record a design token's explicit reference label.
When to use this tool
Use Design Token Reference Label when checking the stated font, color or design-token convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter namespace, tokenName, version. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read token. Use the output convention below.
Require nonempty namespace, tokenName and version. Encode [namespace,tokenName,version] as JSON text.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| namespace | Namespace | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| tokenName | Token Name | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| version | Literal version text; no semantic ordering or current-version lookup. | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| token | JSON-encoded ordered tuple or literal token under the convention above; not a database lookup or authentication result. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"namespace": "brand",
"tokenName": "color.accent",
"version": "v2"
},
"output": {
"token": "[\"brand\",\"color.accent\",\"v2\"]"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- The token reference is recorded without resolving a design system, validating an edition or converting units.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect actual fonts, rendered paths, color profiles and the complete applicable design-system specification for visual or production decisions.
