Clipping Mask Visible Bounds Term Tool

Axis-aligned rectangle bounds intersection, collapsing a disjoint result at the maximum lower corner; not a curved clipping-path intersection.

Description

Take maximum left/top and minimum right/bottom, clamp disjoint terminal bounds to the chosen left/top, and return nonnegative dimensions and a strictly positive hasArea flag.

A layout divides finite space among content, margins, gutters, and clearances. Counts describe how many gaps exist, while offsets and snapping describe where edges fall; changing either convention changes the resulting dimensions.

Take maximum left/top and minimum right/bottom, clamp disjoint terminal bounds to the chosen left/top, and return nonnegative dimensions and a strictly positive hasArea flag.

When to use this tool

Use Clipping Mask Visible Bounds Term when you need a local layout dimension or alignment check with explicit geometric inputs.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter left, top, right, bottom, maskLeft, maskTop, maskRight, maskBottom. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read left, top, right, bottom, width, height, hasArea. Inspect hasArea before interpreting the associated values.

Require ordered object and mask bounds. Take maximum left/top and minimum right/bottom, clamp disjoint terminal bounds to the chosen left/top, and return nonnegative dimensions and a strictly positive hasArea flag.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Touching rectangles have no area, and disjoint coordinates are collapsed placeholders; this handles axis-aligned boxes rather than actual clipping paths, curves, or pixel visibility.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Construct the full layout in a design application and inspect its bounds. For overlapping or rotated content, use geometric intersection and containment rather than independent one-dimensional allowances.
