International Source Language Tag

Attach a literal language code and its authority to a source without language detection.

Description

Record an international source's declared language tag.

International records depend on source vintages, country classifications, population denominators, currency conventions and reporting periods. A code or textual crosswalk is a declared record relationship rather than proof of comparability. PPP-style factors, market exchange rates and physical-flow adjustments answer different questions.

Record an international source's declared language tag.

When to use this tool

Use International Source Language Tag when checking the stated international record, basis, flow or allocation convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter sourceCode, languageCode, codeAuthority. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read token. Use the output convention below.

Require nonempty source, language and code-authority labels. Encode them in that order as JSON text.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Language codes and the code authority are recorded without vocabulary validation, translation or source authentication.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult original datasets, authoritative classifications and the intended statistical/currency methods before comparing international indicators or financial quantities.
