Description

Convert a grant cost using a supplied local-currency-per-base-currency rate.

International records depend on source vintages, country classifications, population denominators, currency conventions and reporting periods. A code or textual crosswalk is a declared record relationship rather than proof of comparability. PPP-style factors, market exchange rates and physical-flow adjustments answer different questions.

Convert a grant cost using a supplied local-currency-per-base-currency rate.

When to use this tool

Use Humanitarian Grant Localcurrency Cost Term when checking the stated international record, basis, flow or allocation convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter baseCurrencyCost, localUnitsPerBaseUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read localCurrencyCost. Use the output convention below.

Require positive localUnitsPerBaseUnit. Return signed baseCurrencyCost times that rate.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor is local currency per base-currency unit, not its reciprocal; no exchange rate, vintage or suitable accounting treatment is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult original datasets, authoritative classifications and the intended statistical/currency methods before comparing international indicators or financial quantities.
