Global Series Membership Cutoff Tool

Membership of a supplied observation date under explicit series inclusion dates; no country/organization membership table.

Description

Test observationDay at or after joining and before leaving, including leave-day equality only when requested.

Cross-source records often use different labels, time spans, and support conventions. Exact equality and overlap checks describe the supplied metadata; they do not prove that sources measure the same social or geographic concept.

Test observationDay at or after joining and before leaving, including leave-day equality only when requested.

When to use this tool

Use Global Series Membership Cutoff when you need a literal source comparison or coverage diagnostic.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observationDay, joinedDay, leftDay, leftKnown, includeLeaveDay. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read memberAtObservation. Inspect memberAtObservation before interpreting the associated values.

Require leftDay no earlier than joinedDay only when leftKnown. Test observationDay at or after joining and before leaving, including leave-day equality only when requested.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Unknown departure creates an open-ended supplied interval; membership authority, legal status, actual participation, and source dates are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original source definitions and collection methods. Harmonize conceptual scope and timing before treating matching labels or overlapping records as comparable evidence.
