Description
Multiply nonnegative dailyInternationalLine and days by positive localCurrencyPerInternational and householdWeight for localPeriodLine.
Cross-country monetary comparisons require an explicit currency, price basis, and population scope. Exchange rates, price indexes, and purchasing-power adjustments are different transformations and should not be substituted without stating their meaning.
Multiply nonnegative dailyInternationalLine and days by positive localCurrencyPerInternational and householdWeight for localPeriodLine.
When to use this tool
Use Global Poverty Line Caller PPP Term when you need a monetary comparison using caller-supplied conversion or price factors.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter dailyInternationalLine, localCurrencyPerInternational, householdWeight, days, observedHouseholdIncome. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read localPeriodLine, incomeGap, belowLine. Inspect belowLine before interpreting the associated values.
Multiply nonnegative dailyInternationalLine and days by positive localCurrencyPerInternational and householdWeight for localPeriodLine. Subtract it from observedHouseholdIncome and flag a strict shortfall.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| dailyInternationalLine | Caller-supplied daily threshold in international-currency units; no current official threshold is selected. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| localCurrencyPerInternational | Positive PPP conversion factor on the intended price basis. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| householdWeight | Household Weight | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| days | Days | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| observedHouseholdIncome | Observed Household Income | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| localPeriodLine | Local Period Line | Required. Finite number. |
| incomeGap | Income Gap | Required. Finite number. |
| belowLine | Below Line | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The line, PPP factor, equivalence weight, income, and period are supplied rather than official current thresholds; PPP is not a market exchange quote and the result is not a complete poverty classification or eligibility decision.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the appropriate official dataset and its methodology for the comparison. Align price year, currency, household basis, and purchasing-power convention before aggregating or interpreting values.
