Gravity Tidal Supplied Correction Term Tool

Subtract a supplied gravity tide signal and add a supplied drift correction, in identical gravity units.

Description

Subtract tideSignal from observedGravity for tideRemoved and add signed driftCorrection for corrected.

Potential-field calculations describe local gravity or magnetic adjustments and spectral operations. Sign, vertical direction, and wavenumber convention affect the result; a single factor does not produce a complete corrected survey.

Subtract tideSignal from observedGravity for tideRemoved and add signed driftCorrection for corrected.

When to use this tool

Use Gravity Tidal Supplied Correction Term when you need a local potential-field term with supplied coefficients or geometry.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedGravity, tideSignal, driftCorrection. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read tideRemoved, corrected. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • All terms use the same gravity unit; tide is subtracted while driftCorrection is an already signed additive correction, without calculating either physical model or a gravity anomaly.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Process the complete survey using the intended reference model and correction chain. Check spectral conventions, boundary handling, and input units rather than combining isolated terms without their model context.
