Triangle Mid Segment Endpoint Tool

Return one triangle midsegment endpoint as the midpoint of its specified side.

Description

Average vertexX with neighborX and vertexY with neighborY using half terms to return the midpoint.

Geometric quantities depend on the coordinate system, the chosen shape, and compatible length units. A component formula can determine a midpoint, signed turn, or area term without validating an entire drawing or physical object.

Average vertexX with neighborX and vertexY with neighborY using half terms to return the midpoint.

When to use this tool

Use Triangle Mid Segment Endpoint when you need one geometric component under the stated shape and orientation convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter vertexX, vertexY, neighborX, neighborY. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read midpointX, midpointY. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • This finds one segment midpoint without validating a triangle, coordinate frame, geographic projection, or whole mid-segment geometry.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the complete geometry and use a suitable geometric model for intersections, tolerances, and construction details.
