Geometry: Prism Oblique Edge Height Component Tool

Compute the perpendicular height component of a prism lateral edge from its explicit angle above the base plane, not volume or a general oblique solid model.

Description

Multiply edge length by sine of the angle, converting degrees to radians, for perpendicularHeight inside result.

Solid-geometry formulas assume particular shapes and measurement directions. Axial height, slant length, filled-volume centroid, and surface centroid are different quantities even when they describe the same object.

Multiply edge length by sine of the angle, converting degrees to radians, for perpendicularHeight inside result.

When to use this tool

Use Geometry: Prism Oblique Edge Height Component when you need a local dimension, area, or centroid term for the stated ideal solid.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter edgeLength, angleFromBaseDegrees. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.

Require nonnegative edgeLength and angleFromBaseDegrees in [0, 90]. Multiply edge length by sine of the angle, converting degrees to radians, for perpendicularHeight inside result.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The angle is measured from the base plane rather than its normal; dimensions and actual prism geometry are supplied without validation of a solid or structural suitability.
  • Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete solid model for clipping, oblique shapes, or nonuniform material. Confirm radius, height, and centroid conventions before applying an ideal-shape identity.
