Dihybrid Cross 9:3:3:1 Ratio Validator
Screen ordered phenotype proportions against the named genetic ratio with caller absolute fraction tolerance; not a significance test or proof of an epistatic mechanism.
Description
Screen ordered phenotype proportions against the named genetic ratio with caller absolute fraction tolerance; not a significance test or proof of an epistatic mechanism.
The 9:3:3:1 dihybrid ratio describes four ordered phenotype categories under a simplified teaching model. Observed fractions can be compared directly with that pattern.
When to use this tool
Screen ordered phenotype proportions against the named genetic ratio with caller absolute fraction tolerance; not a significance test or proof of an epistatic mechanism.
- Prepare the supplied observedCounts, maximumAbsoluteFractionDeviation fields for this operation.
- Compare the complete example with the representation used by your own input before carrying the result into another step.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter observedCounts, maximumAbsoluteFractionDeviation. Use the exact text syntax, units and index conventions explained below.
- Run the tool. If input validation fails, correct the supplied fields before interpreting any result.
- Read result.expectedRatio, result.signedFractionDeviations, result.withinSuppliedTolerance, result.mechanismEstablished. Interpret false, null and empty lists using the distinctions below; they can be valid outputs.
Require 4 ordered nonnegative integer observedCounts, each at most one billion, with a positive sum. The expected ratio is 9:3:3:1. Divide each count by the observed total, subtract its expected ratio fraction and return signedFractionDeviations. Pass withinSuppliedTolerance only when every absolute deviation is at most maximumAbsoluteFractionDeviation, a number from zero through one. Return expectedRatio and mechanismEstablished false.1
| Input field | Meaning and representation | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| observedCounts | observed counts. | List of finite numbers; bounded by the operation |
| maximumAbsoluteFractionDeviation | maximum absolute fraction deviation. | Finite number |
| Output field | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| result | Object containing the named outputs below. |
| result.expectedRatio | The expected ratio list in the ordering and representation described above. |
| result.signedFractionDeviations | The signed fraction deviations list in the ordering and representation described above. |
| result.withinSuppliedTolerance | Whether every absolute observed-minus-expected fraction deviation is within the supplied inclusive tolerance. |
| result.mechanismEstablished | Always false: a proportion match does not establish the genetic mechanism. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Passing the tolerance does not establish independent assortment or dominance assumptions. No chi-square test, linkage model or sampling uncertainty is calculated.
- Every declared top-level field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; ordinary text fields are bounded to 8,192 UTF-16 code units, with tighter operation-specific limits where stated.
- Ordinary string lists have at most 128 entries of at most 128 code units each; numeric lists and matrices have separate bounded size checks. Nonfinite results and excessively large serialized outputs are rejected.
- Indexes are zero-based and spans have an exclusive end unless explicitly stated otherwise. A valid false, null or empty-list result is distinct from malformed input.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Keep model assumptions and phenotype-category order with each result. Ratio tolerance screens differ from goodness-of-fit inference, and sequence matches or likelihood products do not independently establish a biological mechanism or personal identity.
