Color Grade Letter Boundary Checker

Audit caller color-grade coordinate bands with inclusive lower boundaries and measurement uncertainty, retaining multiple compatible codes; no automatic D–Z laboratory grading or interpretation of uncalibrated color coordinates.

Description

A calibrated color coordinate may lie close enough to a boundary that multiple bands are compatible with measurement uncertainty.

A calibrated color coordinate may lie close enough to a boundary that multiple bands are compatible with measurement uncertainty. Reporting all compatible codes avoids false precision.1

Audit caller color-grade coordinate bands with inclusive lower boundaries and measurement uncertainty, retaining multiple compatible codes; no automatic D–Z laboratory grading or interpretation of uncalibrated color coordinates.

When to use Color Grade Letter Boundary Checker

Use this tool to audit caller color-grade coordinate bands with inclusive lower boundaries and measurement uncertainty, retaining multiple compatible codes; no automatic D–Z laboratory grading or interpretation of uncalibrated color coordinates.

Prepare the gemstone measurements, spectra or comparison data and any supplied calibration parameters. Check units, reference conditions and record alignment.

How to use Color Grade Letter Boundary Checker and understand its results

  1. Prepare the gemstone measurements, spectra or comparison data and any supplied calibration parameters. Check units, reference conditions and record alignment.
  2. Enter measuredColorCoordinate, callerColorGradeLowerEdges, coordinateHalfUncertainty using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read centralCallerColorGradeCode, compatibleCallerColorGradeCodes, gradeBoundaryAmbiguous. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Supply a finite coordinate, nonnegative half uncertainty and 2–128 increasing lower edges covering both endpoints. Return central code, every inclusive zero-based compatible code and ambiguity when endpoint codes differ.

Each sequence checked for increasing order must contain at least two strictly increasing values.

compatible codes=all bands from measured coordinate−half uncertainty through coordinate+half uncertainty

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No automatic D–Z grading or uncalibrated-coordinate interpretation is supplied.

Numeric inputs and returned numeric values must be finite; an unrepresentable returned value produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Pearl Size Millimeter Sieve Classifier: Classify measured pearl diameter with caller sieve bands and boundary uncertainty, preserving multiple possible sizes; no invented exact size at ambiguous screen boundary. For a complementary task, use Fluorescence Strength Grade Mapper: Map excitation-normalized background-corrected fluorescence under caller assay-specific bands; retain negative nondetections and no commercial UV grade/material identity or safe lamp exposure inferred.
