SET Card All-Same-or-All-Different Check
Check all four actual ternary SET features for all-same/all-different across three distinct cards; physical duplicate cards rejected, no visual feature extraction.
Description
A SET has each feature all equal or all different across three cards.
A SET has each feature all equal or all different across three cards. Card distinctness is a separate input rule.1
Enter three distinct rows of four feature codes, each integer 0–2. Return four binary feature checks and a combined flag.
When to use SET Card All-Same-or-All-Different Check
Use SET Card All-Same-or-All-Different Check when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No visual card recognition or search across a larger tableau is performed.
Prepare the supplied game state, observations and explicit variant settings. Follow the card, board, coordinate and state conventions in the calculation rules.
How to use SET Card All-Same-or-All-Different Check and understand its results
- Prepare the supplied game state, observations and explicit variant settings. Follow the card, board, coordinate and state conventions in the calculation rules.
- Enter threeCardFeatures using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read validSet, allSameOrAllDifferentFeatureFlags. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| threeCardFeatures | Three card features | list of list of number | Required |
Enter three distinct rows of four feature codes, each integer 0–2. Return four binary feature checks and a combined flag.
featureValid=(distinctValues=1 or3); setValid=all four features valid Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| validSet | Valid set | boolean |
| allSameOrAllDifferentFeatureFlags | All same or all different feature flags | list of number |

} Limitations and assumptions
No visual card recognition or search across a larger tableau is performed.
Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Matrices are limited to 128 rows and 128 entries per row. Numeric lists are limited to 10,000 entries; string lists to 128 strings of at most 128 characters each. The rules above may impose smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Stratego Rank Resolve Lookup: Stratego combat includes attack-specific exceptions for the spy and miner. Equal ordinary ranks remove both pieces. For a complementary task, use Nonogram Clue Sum + Gaps Length Check: A nonogram line needs room for runs and separating empty cells. Caller end padding adds an independent requirement.
