Hi-Lo Running Count Update
Update observed multi-deck Hi-Lo count by explicit card-rank ledger, preserving signed count; not an advantage/profit guarantee or a substitute for remaining-deck evidence.
Description
Hi-Lo updates use low-card positive tags and high-card negative tags.
Hi-Lo updates use low-card positive tags and high-card negative tags. Repeated ranks are valid in a multideck shoe.1
Enter a safe-integer initial count bounded by absolute 1000000 and a list of uppercase rank tokens; an empty list is allowed. Return per-card tags, cumulative updates and final count.
When to use Hi-Lo Running Count Update
Use Hi-Lo Running Count Update when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No remaining deck estimate, shoe verification or conversion to true count is included.
Prepare the supplied game state, observations and explicit variant settings. Follow the card, board, coordinate and state conventions in the calculation rules.
How to use Hi-Lo Running Count Update and understand its results
- Prepare the supplied game state, observations and explicit variant settings. Follow the card, board, coordinate and state conventions in the calculation rules.
- Enter startingRunningCount, observedRanks using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read updatedHiLoRunningCount, perCardHiLoContributions. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |

| startingRunningCount | Starting running count | number | Required |
| observedRanks | Observed ranks | list of string | Required |

} Limitations and assumptions
No remaining deck estimate, shoe verification or conversion to true count is included.
Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 10,000 entries; string lists to 128 strings of at most 128 characters each. The rules above may impose smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use True Count Decks Division: Blackjack true count normalizes a running count by estimated remaining decks. Fractional decks retain precision. For a complementary task, use Insurance Count Threshold Check: Blackjack insurance can compare a caller count gate with an independently supplied ten-value probability. Those are separate pieces of evidence.
