Signal Insight Action Pipeline Stage Tracker
Track signal, insight, and action items through a four-stage pipeline and report counts, stalled items, and next actions.
Description
A signal-to-action pipeline distinguishes observation, interpretation, action and completion.
A signal-to-action pipeline distinguishes observation, interpretation, action and completion. Stage labels determine the next template prompt.1
The returned values include Next actions, Stage counts, Items stalled at signal, Pipeline items. The How section below explains the calculation, input rules and interpretation.
When to use Signal Insight Action Pipeline Stage Tracker
Use Signal Insight Action Pipeline Stage Tracker when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No elapsed-time stall detection, action execution or evidence verification occurs.
Define the question, evidence and scenario assumptions first. Supply the chosen score scales, time horizons or reference selection explicitly. Interpret generated text as a discussion template and screen labels as the stated rules.
How to use Signal Insight Action Pipeline Stage Tracker and understand its results
- Define the question, evidence and scenario assumptions first. Supply the chosen score scales, time horizons or reference selection explicitly. Interpret generated text as a discussion template and screen labels as the stated rules.
- Enter actionIds, currentStages, insightIds, signalIds using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read nextActions, stageCounts, stalledItemIds, totalItemCount. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| actionIds | Action IDs | list of string | Required |
| currentStages | One signal, insight, action, or completed label per item. | list of string | Required |
| insightIds | Insight IDs | list of string | Required |
| signalIds | Signal IDs | list of string | Required |
Require four aligned nonempty string lists. Normalize stages by trimming/lowercasing to the four labels. IDs are used as supplied, even if blank or repeated. Only signal-stage items enter stalledItemIds; emit next-action prompts for all unfinished stages and none for completed.
counts=[signal, insight, action, completed] Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| nextActions | Next actions | list of string |
| stageCounts | Stage counts | list of number |
| stalledItemIds | Items stalled at signal | list of string |
| totalItemCount | Pipeline items | integer; minimum: 1 |

} Limitations and assumptions
No elapsed-time stall detection, action execution or evidence verification occurs.
Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Core numeric and string lists are limited to 100,000 entries; text entries are subject to the general large-text limit. Follow any smaller calculation limits above. Missing fields without a declared default, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Horizon Scanning Team Cadence Report Template: A horizon-scanning meeting needs areas, horizons and a review cadence. A template can organize that work before any signals are collected. For a complementary task, use After Action Review Expected Actual Template: An after-action review compares intended and observed actions before recording causes and lessons. Text matching is a starting point for discussion.
