Description

An acrostic spells a target through the beginnings of successive lines.

An acrostic spells a target through the beginnings of successive lines.1

This checker tests supplied lines against the target’s code points and leaves poetry composition and literary quality to the writer.

When to use Acrostic Poem Helper

Use this tool to apply the stated acrostic poem helper operation with an explicit input and unit basis.

How to use Acrostic Poem Helper and how it works

  1. Establish the text or game convention described above.
  2. Enter actualAcrosticWord, actualPoemLines and run the tool.
  3. Read result.matchesAcrostic using the output meanings below.
  4. If input is rejected, correct the stated type, range, ordering or alignment issue and rerun; review successful results under the declared convention.
Input fieldMeaningValue typeRequirement
actualAcrosticWordAcrostic Word. Units, ordering and applicable branch are specified in the algorithm.stringrequired; further conditions in the algorithm
actualPoemLinesPoem Lines. Units, ordering and applicable branch are specified in the algorithm.array of stringrequired; dense; align related rows as specified; at most 128 strings; 128 UTF-16 units each; further conditions in the algorithm

Uppercase the target as code-point elements and require one nonblank line per resulting element. Trim and uppercase each line, then test whether it starts with its corresponding target element. Leading punctuation can prevent a match; the target is not restricted to ASCII letters.

matchesAcrostic = every trimmed uppercase line starts with its corresponding uppercase target element

Apply the declared units, ordering and branch conditions.

Limitations and assumptions

The output applies the declared operation to the values you supply. Establish the measurement basis, units, coefficients and any caller-selected rules before interpreting it. The tool does not independently collect or verify observations or decide whether a model or reference applies.

Supply explicit required fields with the documented types and dense aligned arrays. Unknown fields, wrong types and nonfinite numbers are rejected. Branch-specific constraints are explained above. A returned boolean, signed difference or tied result follows the stated convention; an input error instead means the required input contract was not satisfied. Very large inputs or outputs may be rejected by shared resource limits.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For a related operation, use Gibberish Language Converter. Gibberish word games disguise written vowels with repeated syllables.

For a related operation, use Backwards Talk Converter. Backwards text can be a playful effect or a simple string exercise.
