Description
Return [massNumber,atomicNumber]symbol.
A nuclide label combines a chemical symbol, atomic number and mass number. Their syntactic arrangement is separate from checking that the symbol matches the element or that the isotope exists.
Return [massNumber,atomicNumber]symbol.
When to use this tool
Use Formatting: Isotope Nuclide Inline Label when you need a literal inline nuclide label from explicit fields.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter elementSymbol, massNumber, atomicNumber. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.
Require a syntactic element symbol, atomicNumber 1-118 and massNumber from atomic number through 1000. Return [massNumber,atomicNumber]symbol.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| elementSymbol | Syntactic chemical-symbol spelling; atomic number correspondence is not checked. | Required. Text. Implementation limit: 8192 Unicode code points and 16384 UTF-16 code units. |
| massNumber | Mass Number | Required. Safe integer. |
| atomicNumber | Atomic Number | Required. Safe integer. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the calculated members; expand to inspect the fields below. | Required. Object. |
| result.label | Literal label; no independent factual or authorization verdict. | Calculated result member: string. |
{
"input": {
"elementSymbol": "C",
"massNumber": 14,
"atomicNumber": 6
},
"output": {
"result": {
"label": "[14,6]C"
}
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- The symbol is not checked against the atomic number and isotope existence is not verified. This is an inline label, not nuclear data or superscript/subscript markup.
- Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Consult an authoritative element and nuclide source when scientific identity matters. Use a suitable mathematics renderer for true superscript/subscript layout and validate the supplied nuclear data independently.
