Binary Unit Symbol Spacing Tool

Calculate binary unit symbol spacing from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Accept KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB or EiB.

A unit label is text describing a quantity's intended scale. Joining tokens, adding powers or choosing spacing changes presentation; it does not convert the quantity, validate dimensional compatibility or verify a unit registry entry.

Accept KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB or EiB.

When to use this tool

Use Binary Unit Symbol Spacing when you need a specific quantity-and-unit text convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter value, unit, noBreak. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read text. Use the output convention below.

Accept KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB or EiB. Join value and unit with an ordinary or no-break space.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • No byte conversion or numeric validation of value text is performed. The selected unit is an explicit label, not inferred from an amount.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a unit-aware calculation for actual conversion and dimensional checks. Select a destination-appropriate typography and retain the intended unit meaning when preparing labels.
