Open Gate Resolution Calculator
Actual full sensor open-gate photo site matrix/bin ned output dimensions, instead of aspect ratio. No fabricated camera model resolution, active pixel mask/demosaic or codec output.
Description
Open-gate dimensions describe the full sensor geometry under a specified binning convention.
Open-gate dimensions describe the full sensor geometry under a specified binning convention.1
This tool divides actual photosite counts by whole binning factors without inventing a camera model's resolution.
When to use Open Gate Resolution Calculator
Use this tool to calculate actual photosite counts by whole binning factors without inventing a camera model's resolution.
How to use Open Gate Resolution Calculator and how it works
- Prepare actualFullSensorWidthPhotosites, actualFullSensorHeightPhotosites, callerVerifiedHorizontalBinning, callerVerifiedVerticalBinning, with the units, conventions and assumptions below.
- Enter the required fields and run Open Gate Resolution Calculator.
- Read result.conditionalOpenGateWidthPixels, result.conditionalOpenGateHeightPixels using the output definitions below.
- Correct any rejected inputs and rerun; interpret the result within the stated model and its assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| actualFullSensorWidthPhotosites | Actual Full Sensor Width Photosites. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; finite; other constraints below |
| actualFullSensorHeightPhotosites | Actual Full Sensor Height Photosites. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; finite; other constraints below |
| callerVerifiedHorizontalBinning | Caller Verified Horizontal Binning. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; finite; other constraints below |
| callerVerifiedVerticalBinning | Caller Verified Vertical Binning. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; finite; other constraints below |
Supply positive integer sensor width and height and positive integer horizontal and vertical bin factors, each at most 1,000,000. Require each sensor dimension be divisible by its corresponding factor. Return width/binX and height/binY in pixels without cropping or checking a camera's supported modes.
outputWidth=sensorWidth/binX; outputHeight=sensorHeight/binY Apply the input ordering, units and branch conditions stated above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the calculated or selected fields below. | object |
| result.conditionalOpenGateWidthPixels | Integer output width after the specified horizontal binning. | number |
| result.conditionalOpenGateHeightPixels | Integer output height after the specified vertical binning. | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
The calculation uses the supplied observations and model inputs. It does not collect measurements, select a reference population or coefficient, or establish that the model applies to the actual case. The stated branch conditions and output units remain part of the result.
All fields require explicit values. Unexpected fields, wrong types, nonfinite numbers and sparse arrays are rejected. Alignment, bounds and supported-token rules are explained above; extremely large inputs or nonfinite results can also fail. Input errors differ from successful false comparisons, unavailable-domain flags and empty match lists.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Super35 Crop Factor Calculator for a complementary operation: A diagonal crop factor compares a reference image diagonal with an actual active image diagonal.
Use Super16 Crop Factor Calculator for a complementary operation: Super16 crop-factor comparisons depend on the actual active image diagonal and the chosen reference.
