Global Shutter Readout Calculator
Actual global-shutter stored frame pixel transfer duration count/observed throughput, not simultaneous exposure time or row-by-row rolling readout skew.
Description
Global-shutter exposure and stored-frame transfer are different timing quantities.
Global-shutter exposure and stored-frame transfer are different timing quantities.1
This tool calculates a recorded pixel-transfer duration from count and sustained throughput rather than rolling-shutter skew.
When to use Global Shutter Readout Calculator
Use this tool to calculate a recorded pixel-transfer duration from count and sustained throughput rather than rolling-shutter skew.
How to use Global Shutter Readout Calculator and how it works
- Prepare actualTransferredPixelCount, actualMeasuredSustainedReadoutPixelRate, with the units, conventions and assumptions below.
- Enter the required fields and run Global Shutter Readout Calculator.
- Read result.value using the output definitions below.
- Correct any rejected inputs and rerun; interpret the result within the stated model and its assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| actualTransferredPixelCount | Actual Transferred Pixel Count. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; integer 0–1000000; finite; other constraints below |
| actualMeasuredSustainedReadoutPixelRate | Actual Measured Sustained Readout Pixel Rate. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; strictly positive; finite; other constraints below |
Supply a nonnegative integer pixel count at most 1,000,000 and a positive pixel readout rate per second. Return pixelCount/rate in seconds. The calculation is a simple transfer-time ledger and does not establish exposure simultaneity or a camera's actual global-shutter architecture.
readoutSeconds=pixelCount/pixelsPerSecond Apply the input ordering, units and branch conditions stated above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the calculated or selected fields below. | object |
| result.value | Nominal transfer duration in seconds. | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
The calculation uses the supplied observations and model inputs. It does not collect measurements, select a reference population or coefficient, or establish that the model applies to the actual case. The stated branch conditions and output units remain part of the result.
All fields require explicit values. Unexpected fields, wrong types, nonfinite numbers and sparse arrays are rejected. Alignment, bounds and supported-token rules are explained above; extremely large inputs or nonfinite results can also fail. Input errors differ from successful false comparisons, unavailable-domain flags and empty match lists.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Super35 Crop Factor Calculator for a complementary operation: A diagonal crop factor compares a reference image diagonal with an actual active image diagonal.
Use Super16 Crop Factor Calculator for a complementary operation: Super16 crop-factor comparisons depend on the actual active image diagonal and the chosen reference.
