Description

Subtract garmentCenterCoordinate from pocketCenterCoordinate for centerOffset.

Garment and pattern calculations use measurements, allowances, fold conventions, and repeat positions. A local calculation is one pattern component; fabric behavior, fit, and manufacturing tolerances require separate assessment.

Subtract garmentCenterCoordinate from pocketCenterCoordinate for centerOffset.

When to use this tool

Use Pocket Placement Center Line Offset when you need a bounded pattern, spacing, or allowance component using consistent length units.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter garmentCenterCoordinate, pocketCenterCoordinate, pocketWidth. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read centerOffset, innerEdgeCoordinate, outerEdgeCoordinate. Use the output convention below.

Subtract garmentCenterCoordinate from pocketCenterCoordinate for centerOffset. Return pocket center minus and plus half pocketWidth as edge coordinates.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Inner and outer labels follow the chosen numeric axis, not automatically the garment's anatomical sides; no seam allowance, fit, or placement preference is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the complete pattern and test fit or material behavior before production.
