European Charter Seal Count Label

Label explicit surviving seal and missing-position counts without inferring authenticity or original seal totals.

Description

Label recorded charter seals and missing positions, and total their counts.

European archival and institutional records connect historical currency wording, degree abbreviations, editions, annexes and item locators. Literal labels can preserve provenance without establishing legal applicability, qualification equivalence or source authenticity. Bilingual display is also distinct from translation.

Label recorded charter seals and missing positions, and total their counts.

When to use this tool

Use European Charter Seal Count Label when checking the stated archival, publication or institutional-record convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter charterId, recordedSeals, missingSealPositions. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read label, totalRecordedPositions. Use the output convention below.

Require nonempty charterId and nonnegative whole recorded-seal/missing-position counts. Format both counts in a label and export their sum as numeric totalRecordedPositions, using exact integer intermediates.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The numeric total is not arbitrary-precision text; no physical seal, original count, authenticity or archival interpretation is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult original archives, authoritative current institutional/legal sources and appropriate historical context for substantive interpretation or rights decisions.
