Description

Return remaining budget before/after proposal and whether total use stays within the supplied maximum.

Recording and excerpt budgets can encode a supplied duration allowance or credit flag. Remaining seconds and matching metadata cannot establish consent, copyright, cultural permission or the full conditions governing reuse.

Return remaining budget before/after proposal and whether total use stays within the supplied maximum.

When to use this tool

Use Performer Consent Excerpt Length Budget when you need a duration or credit calculation under explicit supplied permissions metadata.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter authorizedSeconds, usedSeconds, proposedSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read remainingBefore, remainingAfter, fits. Inspect fits before interpreting the associated values.

Require nonnegative authorized, used and proposed seconds. Return remaining budget before/after proposal and whether total use stays within the supplied maximum.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative remaining amounts are retained. The calculation does not establish actual consent, license scope, ownership, revocation status or permission to publish.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify the actual agreement, performer consent, attribution requirements and intended use with the relevant rights holders. Review purpose, scope, revocation and cultural restrictions beyond duration alone.
