Description
Return closing balance and closing-minus-reserve margin.
Allocation models distribute resources, burdens or compensation using explicit weights and reference values. Arithmetic transparency can expose assumptions, but a proportional share or restored balance does not establish fairness, entitlement or responsibility.
Return closing balance and closing-minus-reserve margin.
When to use this tool
Use Stewardship Resource Renewal Balance when you need one stated allocation, burden or compensation term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter opening, used, renewed, reserve. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read closing, reserveMargin. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative opening, used, renewed and reserve, with use no greater than opening. Return closing balance and closing-minus-reserve margin.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| used | Used | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| renewed | Renewed | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| reserve | Reserve | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| closing | Closing | Required. Finite number. |
| reserveMargin | Reserve Margin | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Renewal is treated as occurring after use. Resource units and sustainable-use assumptions are supplied; the balance does not establish ethical stewardship or ecological sustainability.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the underlying needs, rights, valuation and distribution process. Consider the complete allocation and affected parties rather than inferring justice from one calculated share.
