Cold Stress Wind Chill Work Exposure Threshold Checker
Compare independently established wind chill to caller exposure-plan bounds; does not compute safe work duration.
Description
Check an independently established wind-chill value against caller-supplied bounds.
A cold-stress screen may compare an independently established wind-chill value with a reviewed interval. This tool performs that comparison rather than deriving wind chill from weather observations.
When to use this tool
Check an independently established wind-chill value against caller-supplied bounds. Use it when the input measurements and conventions below match the operation you need.
- Prepare independentlyEstablishedWindChillC, callerMinimum, callerMaximum, respecting the measurement basis and boundaries below.
- Compare the worked example with your intended operation before reusing its result.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter every field in the input table using the stated units and exact supported selector spelling where applicable.
- Run the tool. Correct input errors before interpreting an output.
- Read the result fields below; use accompanying flags and the stated sign, boundary or model convention when interpreting a number.
The tool requires ordered callerMinimum and callerMaximum, then compares the supplied wind-chill temperature with both bounds inclusively.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| independentlyEstablishedWindChillC | Independently established wind chill c. Degrees Celsius. | Finite number |
| callerMinimum | Caller-supplied lower bound in the same units and measurement basis as independentlyEstablishedWindChillC. | Finite number |
| callerMaximum | Caller-supplied upper bound in the same units and measurement basis as independentlyEstablishedWindChillC. | Finite number |
| Output field | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| result | Object containing the following named result fields. |
| result.withinCallerBounds | Inclusive comparison with the ordered lower and upper bounds supplied by the caller. |
{
"input": {
"independentlyEstablishedWindChillC": -15,
"callerMinimum": -10,
"callerMaximum": 10
},
"output": {
"result": {
"withinCallerBounds": false
}
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- The supplied bounds are not built-in exposure limits. Clothing, workload, exposure time, wetness and individual susceptibility are not modeled, and a true result does not establish safe exposure.
- Every declared field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; input errors are distinct from a valid false result or an explicitly qualified output.
- Extremely large inputs and nonfinite or excessively large outputs are rejected. List positions reported by the tool use zero-based indices unless stated otherwise.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use an assessment method and reference edition that match the task and population. This calculation or supplied record is one part of the evidence; it does not replace observation of the actual work. Compare the scope of the nearby tools below before substituting one.
