Description
Count distinct supplied origin groups and citations beyond one per group.
Evidence records distinguish claims, source origins, confidence labels, logical scope and access status. Repeated citations may share an origin rather than provide independent support; an unknown origin is not proof of independence. A recorded support or witness link does not establish entailment, truth or a valid inference.
Count distinct supplied origin groups and citations beyond one per group.
When to use this tool
Use Citation Independent Source Count Pair when checking the stated evidence, source, confidence or logical-label convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter citationIds, originGroupIds. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read citationCount, originGroupCount, sharedOriginCitations. Use the output convention below.
Require aligned citation/origin-group lists, unique nonempty citation IDs and nonempty origin IDs. Return citation count, distinct origin-group count and citation count minus group count.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| citationIds | Citation Ids | Required. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256. |
| originGroupIds | Origin Group Ids | Required. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| citationCount | Citation Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| originGroupCount | Origin Group Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| sharedOriginCitations | Citation count minus origin-group count: extra citations beyond one per supplied group. | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- SharedOriginCitations counts extra citations beyond one per group, not all citations in repeated groups; supplied grouping does not prove independence or credibility.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect original evidence and use appropriate complete logical/statistical analysis, preserving uncertainty, provenance and applicable access/reuse permissions.
