Assertion Support Path Count Tool

Count supplied support-path records, without assessing truth or logical validity.

Description

Count distinct selected-assertion paths and any-valid paths; subtract for invalidOnlyPaths.

A justification chain or evidence path is a structural representation of an argument. Repeated identifiers and reachable cycles can expose a local structural issue, but path counts do not establish independent evidence or argument soundness.

Count distinct selected-assertion paths and any-valid paths; subtract for invalidOnlyPaths.

When to use this tool

Use Assertion Support Path Count when you need a supplied chain, path-count or cycle diagnostic.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter assertionIds, pathIds, valid, selectedAssertion. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read distinctPaths, validPaths, invalidOnlyPaths. Use the output convention below.

Require aligned assertion/path IDs and validity flags. Count distinct selected-assertion paths and any-valid paths; subtract for invalidOnlyPaths.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Any valid duplicate supports a path even if another record conflicts. Path structure, evidence validity, independence and claim truth are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the actual dependency graph and substantive premises. Use a full graph traversal when disconnected components matter, and evaluate evidentiary validity separately from structure.
