Restoration Seed Area Overlap Deduction Tool

Calculate restoration seed area overlap deduction from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return netArea = firstArea+secondArea-overlap and seedAmount = netArea*seedPerArea.

Area and boundary terms describe different spatial properties. Adding areas requires an overlap convention, while dividing perimeter by area introduces an inverse-length scale rather than a dimensionless measure of habitat quality.

Return netArea = firstArea+secondArea-overlap and seedAmount = netArea*seedPerArea.

When to use this tool

Use Restoration Seed Area Overlap Deduction when checking a local spatial quantity under supplied area and boundary assumptions.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstArea, secondArea, overlap, seedPerArea. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read netArea, seedAmount. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative firstArea, secondArea and seedPerArea, with overlap between zero and min(firstArea, secondArea). Return netArea = firstArea+secondArea-overlap and seedAmount = netArea*seedPerArea. The seed rate is amount per the supplied area unit.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This deducts only the supplied two-area overlap. It does not map spatial geometry, check ecological suitability, recommend seeding density or account for viability and establishment losses.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use mapped geometry or spatial analysis for actual overlaps, boundaries and heterogeneous restoration requirements.
