Pollutant Standard Volume Concentration Factor

Rebase an explicit pollutant mass-per-gas-volume concentration to a supplied standard gas volume while conserving pollutant mass.

Description

Convert a concentration between supplied gas-volume bases while preserving amount.

Environmental inventories distinguish wet/dry material, analytical detection limits, gas-volume reference states, represented area and allocation weights. A monitoring completeness fraction can exceed one when extra records are present. Supplied conversion and allocation factors need separate justification before physical or environmental interpretation.

Convert a concentration between supplied gas-volume bases while preserving amount.

When to use this tool

Use Pollutant Standard Volume Concentration Factor when checking the stated environmental reporting, analytical, inventory or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reportedConcentration, measuredGasVolume, suppliedStandardGasVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read standardVolumeConcentration. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative concentration/measured gas volume and positive supplied standard gas volume. Return concentration*measuredVolume/standardVolume.1

suppliedStandardGasVolumePositive comparison-state volume for the same pollutant amount; no pressure/temperature convention inferred.Required. Finite number; strictly above 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Assumes conserved pollutant amount and compatible gas-volume bases; no pressure, temperature, moisture or standard-state conversion is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated representative measurements and appropriate complete analytical, spatial or life-cycle methods for actual environmental conclusions and compliance decisions.
