Environmental Sensor Reporting Interval Completeness

Compare explicit expected and reported interval counts without deriving expected sampling schedules or validating sensor readings.

Loading tool…

Description

Compare reported and expected sensor intervals, separating missing and extra counts.

Environmental inventories distinguish wet/dry material, analytical detection limits, gas-volume reference states, represented area and allocation weights. A monitoring completeness fraction can exceed one when extra records are present. Supplied conversion and allocation factors need separate justification before physical or environmental interpretation.

Compare reported and expected sensor intervals, separating missing and extra counts.

When to use this tool

Use Environmental Sensor Reporting Interval Completeness when checking the stated environmental reporting, analytical, inventory or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter expectedIntervals, reportedIntervals. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read reportedFraction, missingIntervals, extraIntervals. Use the output convention below.

Require whole expectedIntervals>=1 and reportedIntervals>=0. Return reported/expected and positive-part missing/extra interval counts separately.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
expectedIntervalsExpected IntervalsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
reportedIntervalsReported IntervalsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
reportedFractionReported/expected intervals; may exceed one.Required. Finite number.
missingIntervalsMissing IntervalsRequired. Safe integer.
extraIntervalsPositive excess reported count, not independently detected duplicates.Required. Safe integer.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The fraction may exceed one; no intervals are identified, duplicates detected or measurement completeness and quality verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated representative measurements and appropriate complete analytical, spatial or life-cycle methods for actual environmental conclusions and compliance decisions.
