Exposure Diary Contact Duration

Subtract explicit noncontact intervals from a recorded diary contact window without estimating absorbed exposure.

Description

Measure contact duration between supplied exposure-diary endpoints.

Environmental-health records connect sampled matrices, background references, observed areas, service dates and contact durations. An areal loading differs from a bulk or airborne concentration, and a censored result label differs from a quantified value. These summaries do not establish safe conditions or individual health risk.

Measure contact duration between supplied exposure-diary endpoints.

When to use this tool

Use Exposure Diary Contact Duration when checking the stated environmental-health record, measurement basis or time convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter startMinutes, endMinutes, excludedMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read recordedContactMinutes. Use the output convention below.

Require end>=start and excludedMinutes within [0,end-start]. Return end-start-excluded as recordedContactMinutes.1

startMinutesStart MinutesRequired. Finite number.
endMinutesEnd MinutesRequired. Finite number.
excludedMinutesExcluded MinutesRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Contact time is supplied, not a measured pollutant dose, health-risk estimate or safe-exposure judgment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified sampling and analytical records with qualified environmental-health professionals for actual exposure, remediation, water-quality or care decisions.
