Description
measuredTaper = (secondDiameter-firstDiameter)/length; taperGap subtracts targetTaper; targetEndDiameter = firstDiameter+targetTaper*length.
Dental specimen and bench-model measurements need an explicit image scale, coordinate origin and geometric convention. A linear taper, chord ratio or calibrated length describes a supplied model and does not establish anatomy or guide clinical treatment.
measuredTaper = (secondDiameter-firstDiameter)/length; taperGap subtracts targetTaper; targetEndDiameter = firstDiameter+targetTaper*length.
When to use this tool
Use Canal Model Conicity Length Gap when checking a supplied research or bench-model dimension.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstDiameter, secondDiameter, length, targetTaper. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read measuredTaper, taperGap, targetEndDiameter. Use the output convention below.
Require positive length and nonnegative firstDiameter and secondDiameter. measuredTaper = (secondDiameter-firstDiameter)/length; taperGap subtracts targetTaper; targetEndDiameter = firstDiameter+targetTaper*length.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Diameter and length units must match the target taper basis. Signed taper and target values are retained; the straight-line model is not a complete canal geometry or treatment assessment.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified specimen and instrument methods, full geometry and professional clinical assessment when the question extends beyond bench arithmetic.
