Description
Return symbolCount = byteCount+1 for a final partial Ascii85 group.
Ascii85 groups four source bytes into a fixed encoded group and treats final partial groups differently. Its zero shorthand is a special full-group representation, not a substitute for arbitrary short zero sequences.

When to use this tool
Use Encoding: Ascii85 Partial Group Byte Count when checking a partial-group count or zero-shorthand eligibility.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter byteCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.
Require whole byteCount in [1,3]. Return symbolCount = byteCount+1 for a final partial Ascii85 group.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| byteCount | Byte Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the named calculated members below. | Required. Object. |
| result.symbolCount | Symbol Count | Calculated result member: number. |

}
} Limitations and assumptions
- This is a count only, assuming the usual zero-completion and truncation convention. It does not encode the bytes or include delimiters and line wrapping.
- Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the full Ascii85 variant required by the consumer for group encoding, delimiters and wrapping.
