Description
potentialCorrection = -gasConstant*temperatureK*ln(reactionQuotient)/(electronCount*faradayConstant).
Electrochemical current and potential terms depend on reaction direction, transport geometry and a declared reference state. Named equations apply under specific kinetic or diffusion assumptions; one scaling factor is not a full electrochemical model.
potentialCorrection = -gasConstant*temperatureK*ln(reactionQuotient)/(electronCount*faradayConstant).
When to use this tool
Use Nernst Reaction Quotient Log Term when checking one supplied kinetic or transport-model contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter temperatureK, electronCount, reactionQuotient, gasConstant, faradayConstant. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read potentialCorrection. Use the output convention below.
Require positive temperatureK, reactionQuotient, gasConstant and faradayConstant and positive whole electronCount. potentialCorrection = -gasConstant*temperatureK*ln(reactionQuotient)/(electronCount*faradayConstant).1
The Nernst correction uses thermodynamic temperature and a dimensionless activity quotient for the chosen reaction. Standard potential is a separate term.2

| faradayConstant | Faraday Constant | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use dimensionless activity-based reaction quotient and consistent constants, such as J/(mol·K) and C/mol for volts. Standard potential, activities and reaction validity are supplied rather than inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a suitable complete model and verified experimental conditions before interpreting a local term as mechanism, performance or a fitted parameter.
