Description
Calculate a Levich-style transport factor with diffusivity to the two-thirds power and square-root angular-speed dependence.
Electrochemical current and potential terms depend on reaction direction, transport geometry and a declared reference state. Named equations apply under specific kinetic or diffusion assumptions; one scaling factor is not a full electrochemical model.
Calculate a Levich-style transport factor with diffusivity to the two-thirds power and square-root angular-speed dependence.
When to use this tool
Use Levich Rotation Two Thirds Factor when checking one supplied kinetic or transport-model contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter diffusivity, kinematicViscosity, angularSpeed, coefficient. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read transportFactor. Use the output convention below.
Require positive diffusivity, kinematicViscosity and coefficient and nonnegative angularSpeed. transportFactor = coefficient*diffusivity^(2/3)*kinematicViscosity^(-1/6)*sqrt(angularSpeed).1
The Levich transport dependence uses diffusivity to the two-thirds power, viscosity to the minus-one-sixth power and a square root of rotation. Prefactors depend on units.2
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| diffusivity | Diffusivity | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| kinematicViscosity | Kinematic Viscosity | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| angularSpeed | Nonnegative angular speed in radians per time unit; choose coefficient units consistently, and convert RPM separately. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| coefficient | Positive prefactor with units compatible with diffusivity, viscosity and rotation convention. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| transportFactor | Transport Factor | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The angular-speed exponent is one-half despite the tool name's two-thirds wording; two-thirds applies to diffusivity. Supply angular speed in the coefficient's convention, not RPM without conversion. Other Levich factors are not automatically included.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a suitable complete model and verified experimental conditions before interpreting a local term as mechanism, performance or a fitted parameter.
