Electrode Film Loading Share Tool

Calculate electrode film loading share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Split a two-component film’s areal loading into active and binder mass contributions.

Electrochemical normalization distinguishes charge, capacitance, conductance and geometric or active area. Their units and denominator choices determine the result, while calibration, active material and measurement conditions remain independent assumptions.

Split a two-component film’s areal loading into active and binder mass contributions.

When to use this tool

Use Electrode Film Loading Share when checking a supplied electrical quantity or electrode-area normalization.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter filmMass, exposedArea, binderMassFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalArealLoading, activeArealLoading, binderArealLoading. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative filmMass, positive exposedArea and binderMassFraction in [0,1]. totalArealLoading = filmMass/exposedArea; binderArealLoading multiplies that by the binder fraction, and activeArealLoading by its complement.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This two-component model treats all nonbinder mass as active. Conductive additives, residual solvent and other components need separate treatment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use suitable calibration, experimental methods and a complete physical model when inferring electrode performance or material properties.
