Coulometric Baseline Drift Term Tool

Integrate a supplied linearly drifting baseline current over an explicit elapsed interval.

Loading tool…

Description

baselineCharge = initialBaseline*durationSeconds+driftPerSecond*durationSeconds²/2, integrating a linearly drifting baseline current.

Electrochemical normalization distinguishes charge, capacitance, conductance and geometric or active area. Their units and denominator choices determine the result, while calibration, active material and measurement conditions remain independent assumptions.

baselineCharge = initialBaseline*durationSeconds+driftPerSecond*durationSeconds²/2, integrating a linearly drifting baseline current.

When to use this tool

Use Coulometric Baseline Drift Term when checking a supplied electrical quantity or electrode-area normalization.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initialBaseline, driftPerSecond, durationSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read baselineCharge. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative durationSeconds. baselineCharge = initialBaseline*durationSeconds+driftPerSecond*durationSeconds²/2, integrating a linearly drifting baseline current.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
initialBaselineInitial BaselineRequired. Finite number.
driftPerSecondDrift Per SecondRequired. Finite number.
durationSecondsDuration SecondsRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • For coulombs use amperes and amperes/second. This returns the baseline term only, not corrected measured charge, uncertainty or evidence that drift is linear.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use suitable calibration, experimental methods and a complete physical model when inferring electrode performance or material properties.
