Description
magnitude = hypot(conductance, susceptance); capacitive is true when susceptance > 0 and inductive when susceptance < 0.
Sinusoidal electrical calculations need a common frequency, phase reference and RMS or peak convention. Phasor sums, complex power and composite RMS describe different operations; a sign label alone does not establish a physical connection or waveform.
magnitude = hypot(conductance, susceptance); capacitive is true when susceptance > 0 and inductive when susceptance < 0.
When to use this tool
Use Admittance Conductance Susceptance Sign Pair when checking a stated phasor, power or RMS convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter conductance, susceptance. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read magnitude, capacitive, inductive. Inspect capacitive, inductive before interpreting the associated values.
Require nonnegative conductance. magnitude = hypot(conductance, susceptance); capacitive is true when susceptance > 0 and inductive when susceptance < 0.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use a common admittance unit and the stated positive-capacitive sign convention. At zero susceptance both flags are false; the model does not identify a physical component.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use compatible measured waveforms and a complete circuit or harmonic model when signals are distorted, references differ or practical limits matter.
